BBC Breakfast viewers all have the same question as Carol Kirkwood replaced in weather shake-up

BBC Breakfast aired a huge show shake-up on Monday morning – but viewers were more interested in where weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was.

Carol tends to give weather updates on the show on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, however, she was nowhere to be seen today.

Usually appearing while Dan Walker and Sally Nugent present from the studio on the famous red sofa, the meteorologist was absent, with fans given no explanation as to why.

Instead, the 59-year-old was replaced by fellow BBC weather presenter Sarah Keith-Lucas.

And with the weather in chaos in the aftermath of Storm Arwen and flurries of snow, thankfully Sarah was in her element presenting the weather segment.

But some viewers were still missing Carol, as one questioned on Twitter: "No-one presenting the weather in Carol's absence then?"

Another fan, notably upset by her absence, sent a direct tweet to Carol and said: “It’s the coldest day of the autumn and you’re not here to warm us up.”

Carol, meanwhile, hasn't offered any explanation as to why she was missing from the show.

The iconic weather presenter was left red-faced earlier this month after being challenged about her job knowledge by presenter Naga Munchetty.

While discussing the clicker she uses to change the slides on the programme, Jon quizzed her: "What do you actually call that little thing that you use? It's just a clicker?"

"A clicker," Carol responded immediately. "It's just a clicker, Jon, you're absolutely right."

But Naga wasn't impressed with her response, as she pressed: "Is that its official name, Carol? Or is that your name for it?"

Carol answered in the affirmative, which is when things got a little frosty between the pair as Naga said: "Are you sure?"

Embarrassed, Carol turned her clicker over in her hand as she exclaimed: "I'm positive, Naga. I'm just frantically checking it now.”

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am every day on BBC One.
