Coronation Street's Rob Mallard accidentally confirms massive storyline for Daniel Osbourne and Carla Connor live on This Morning

CORONATION Street's Rob Mallard has just accidentally confirmed Daniel Osbourne's relationship with Carla Connor.

The actor – who is nominated for a best newcomer gong at this year's National Television Awards – joked that the once and future factory boss is just "working her way through the Barlows" with her new fling.

He first teased the romance, saying: "It's an older woman, who I think there's that thing that she sees something missing in him, and he sees something missing in her and they just…"

But when Holly Willoughby asked if they could say who it was, her co-host Phillip Schofield jumped in and screamed: "Carla!"

And the jig was then up.

Confirming The Sun's story that Daniel and his former sister-in-law will get together for a passionate fling, Rob said:

"Yeah, it's Carla. You can say it, I just wasn't sure whether I was allowed to say it."

He added: "She's kind of working her way through the Barlows, isn't she? With all she's been through with Peter."

And luckily he said the reaction he has received so far has been positive.

Rob added: "It's had a nice response online, I wasn't too sure how it was going to go over, it seems like people are quite keen."

The actor also spoke about his NTA nomination, after winning a host of other best newcomer awards.
