The first three episodes of Harry & Meghan landed on Netflix on Thursday morning, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex addressing how they met and why they decided to make a docu-series. It has been widely reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle met on a blind date, but the 38-year-old prince shared how he and the American actress actually got introduced via Instagram.

In episode one of the series, Harry and Meghan sat down on a sofa for a candid conversation about how they were introduced to one another.

Harry said: “Meghan and I met over Instagram.

“I was scrolling through my feed and someone who was a friend had this video of the two of them, like a Snapchat and um, it’s…”

Meghan interjected:  “Oh gosh. Isn’t that the whole thing, it’s got like doggy ears…”

An image of Meghan using a filter with cartoon dog ears was displayed as she explained that was the picture Harry saw of her.

Harry confirmed: “That was the first thing. I was like, ‘Who is that?'”

Meghan began laughing at the picture, adding: “That’s ridiculous.”

Harry explained: “And then she sent me an email saying, ‘I know you said you’re single and, a friend of mine asked about you and, maybe you’d like to meet him.’

“And I said, ‘Who is it?’ And she said, ‘It’s Prince Haz.’ I said, ‘Who’s that?'”

Meghan added: “I asked if I could see his feed. So that’s the thing. When people say, ‘Did you Google him?’, No.”

The Duchess said the best “barometer” to see what Harry was like was to check his social media feed.

However, it has been reported the pair met on a blind date in 2016, with neither of them having any idea who the other was.

Buckingham Palace has not responded to the claims made in the six-part series.

The final three episodes will be released on Netflix on Thursday, December 15.

The trailers for the series have been widely criticised, with some royal experts branding them misleading.

In the first minute-long trailer, a photograph of paparazzi appears in black and white just before Harry says he “had to do everything to protect my family”.

However, it is understood the photograph was actually taken at a Harry Potter premiere, several years before Harry and Meghan met.

The second trailer includes more paparazzi images which appear to illustrate how the pair were hounded by the British press.

However, the footage was actually taken outside Crawley Magistrates’ Court last December when former model Katie Price arrived for her trial.

Netflix has not commented on the trailers for the series.

The first three instalments of Harry & Meghan are available to watch on Netflix.
