Adele confessed her Vegas shows gave her ‘jock itch’ because she ‘sits in her own sweat’ all night.
The 35 year old singer said she developed the uncomfortable fungal skin infection after performing under the heat of the lights at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace while wearing Spanx. The condition, medical name tinea cruris, causes an itchy rash in warm, moist parts of the body – including the upper part of the thighs, buttocks and lower parts of the abdomen – and is known as ‘jock itch’ because it commonly affects athletes, as they sweat a lot.
Adele, speaking during her latest Vegas residency gig, told crowd she was 'so hot' and her 't***' were sweating'. She added: “I need a towel, Jesus!”
She went on to make a 'crude confession', admitting her doctor had diagnosed her with jock itch – which she ‘never knew existed’. The Rolling in the Deep singer added: “Obviously when I do my shows I wear Spanx and keep it all in and make it all fit me. And I sweat a lot and it doesn't go anywhere. So basically I just sit in my own sweat. And my doctor gave me Jock Itch.
“So it looks like I am an athlete basically…I don't know why the f**k I just told you that!”
Adele, who had a three month break from her Vegas residency, also discussed her nerves at returning after finishing the first leg of her latest run of shows in March. She said: “All week I had just been buzzing and right then I was stood right there (behind the curtain) and I s**t myself!' she confessed.
“We had a very long break and I am gassed to be back. I was bored out of my brains.”
In March, Adele delighted fans by revealing she was adding additional dates to her Weekends With Adele Las Vegas residency – confirming the move in what was thought to be the final show at The Colosseum theatre at The Colosseum theatre in Caesars Palace.
In videos shared on social media, the London-born singer was heard telling the crowd: “Playing to 4,000 people for 34 nights is not enough, and I know that.I know it’s not enough, so I am coming back.”
The singer also revealed how the latest shows would be filmed and later released on film. She said: “I’ll be back for a few weeks in June and I’m going to film it, and I’m going to release it to make sure that anyone who wants to see it…And then I’ll be back in summer, from the end of August until fall.”
The mother-of-one went on to describe the experience of performing in the Las Vegas theatre as “such a f****** vibe”.
Earlier this month it emerged that tickets for her extended run were being sold for as much as £12,000. OK! spotted some premium tickets being sold for around $27,000 each on re-sale website Seat Geek.
