Alex Scott, 34, and Neil Jones, 37, were revealed to be partners for Strictly Come Dancing 2019 during last weekend’s launch programme and have wasted no time getting stuck in to training for the live shows. Yesterday, the pair were snapped leaving rehearsals together, both appearing to be cheerful despite the fact they have been putting in up to nine hours’ training each day. In one snap, the football pundit and former Lioness smiled as dancer Neil showed her something on his phone. Another showed them deep in conversation as they made their way down the street.
Alex was dressed in skintight workout leggings and a leather jacket, carrying her kit in a bag over one arm and clutching a water bottle.
Neil, meanwhile, also opted for exercise gear for their training day, covering up in a black hoodie as he remained engrossed in his phone.
The reason soon became clear as he uploaded a series of videos in view of his 175,000 Instagram followers, answering a barrage of questions aimed at the pair by fans.
In one clip, the Strictly pro read out: “If you weren’t doing Strictly, what would you be doing?”
“Ooh,” Alex mused. “I’d be doing more football games.
“So, I’m glad that’s been taken to the side at the moment and I’m learning to dance.”
A second saw them quizzed about their partnership, asking who was more competitive.
Ironically, a lighthearted debate ensured, with both stars arguing they were, in fact, the most competitive.
Neil then read out another question from an Instagram follower who asked what a typical day in training was like.
“Every day’s a school day with Neil Jones,” Alex quipped.
“We’ve been doing long hours,” he admitted.
“Nine hours. I think we’re going to pick it up tomorrow,” he continued, to which she replied: “Hopefully!”
“You love working hard, I love it!” he exclaimed.
When they parted, Neil and Alex were pictured sharing a friendly hug.
They will be making their debut on the dance floor together later this month when Strictly 2019 gets underway properly.
This year marks Neil’s first as part of the core line-up of professionals.
Despite having been on the show for the past three series, he had never been partnered up with a celebrity contestant until now.
The Strictly Come Dancing 2019 live shows kick off Saturday September 21 at 7pm.
