Presenting double act Ant and Dec have confirmed on BBC’s The One Show that their popular show I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! will return to the Australian jungle for the next series after two years in Wales.
The popular TV hosts, both 46, revealed the news fans have been waiting for when they appeared on BBC show The One Show on Thursday.
The ITV favourite show had been forced to relocate for the past two series to Gwrych Castle in Wales due to Covid travel restrictions but the 2022 series is due to return to its rightful home in the Australian outback.
Ant and Dec confirmed the news when asked about plans for the new series by One Show Welsh presenter Alex Jones, 44.
Alex asked the pair the question we all wanted to know: “Australia are reopening their boarders from Monday. So is it the castle or is it the jungle?”
Ant responded to Alex: “Well, the plan is the jungle.”
Dec was quick to jump in and add: “Nothing against Wales.”
Ant went on: “We love Wales, but Australia is home and we'd like to get back there if we can. With Covid there was no getting around it.”
Initial plans for last year’s series was for the show to return to Australia after the 2020 series took place in Wales but, the Covid travel restrictions forced the show to stay in the UK for a second year running.
In August last year, show bosses confirmed I’m A Celeb would return to Wales following a U-turn on their earlier decision to film in Australia.
The news was confirmed by ITV as Katie Rawcliffe, ITV Head of Entertainment Commissioning, as she said: “We can confirm today that we’ll be returning to Wales for the 2021 series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!
“We’ve always said we have contingencies in place for the series if the covid situation continued to bring uncertainty, and after a highly successful run at the castle last year we’re pleased that we can return there. I have no doubt the production team will produce another hugely entertaining series.”
Richard Cowles, Director of Unscripted at Lifted Entertainment, which produces the show, added: “With the continued uncertainty around covid and international travel we have taken the decision not to return to our home in Australia for the 2021 series.
“We’re excited to return to Gwrych Castle. The last series was a huge success and we were made to feel so welcome by everyone locally and can’t wait to see everyone again.”

Filming in Wales was not without its difficulties with Storm Arwen forcing the show to shutdown mid series.
The storm caused havoc to the set and forced the show off air for three nights.
