Ant McPartlin in Saturday Night Takeaway blunder as he breaks prop during finale

Ant McPartlin found himself in an awkward position on this weekend's Saturday Night Takeaway, which was filmed live from Universal Orlando Resort in Florida, after he broke an important prop.

The 47 year old was in the sunshine state alongside co-host Declan Donnelly and former The Pussycat Dolls star Nicole Sherzinger.

The trio were playing Saturday Night At The Movies, but as Nicole helped a family win £1,000, the clapperboard with which Ant was supposed to be timing the game, broke.

A shocked Ant said: "My [clapperboard] has broken! It just fell apart in the heat."

Dec and Nicole burst out laughing as Ant added: "It's alright I can use [the top half] it's fine!"

Fans of the show are gutted this series has come to an end, as they took to Twitter in their droves to praise it.

"Do so adore the always wildly entertaining @itvtakeaway so much. @antanddec continue to show why they are the true masters of top-quality light entertainment. So sad next week is the season finale, but til then can't wait for more…… #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

"@itvtakeaway what a great series, so sad that it’s over! Going out with a bang in the finale! See you next year! #SaturdayNightTakeaway," said another.

A third said: "#SaturdayNightTakeaway sad it's ending absolutely love the show and watching every Saturday!"

There's some more of the show coming fans' ways though, as on Easter Sunday, a documentary named Saturday Night Takeaway: Behind The Screens, will air that shows what goes into making the hit programme.

On a recent episode of the show, Ant and Dec hilariously pranked fellow TV presenter, Rylan Clark.

Ahead of this year’s Eurovision song contest, which Rylan has been confirmed to be presenting, the Geordie duo set up a fake video shoot ahead of the ceremony, where they asked Rylan to pronounce phrases in foreign languages and pose for what he thought was a legitimate video with a green screen.

In the cheeky prank, Ant and Dec directed actors to help pull off the prank, with a series of mishaps taking place throughout the segment.

Things first kicked off when the duo wouldn’t let Rylan enter the building for the shoot, and even convinced him the door was broken.

The stars then asked him to say some phrases in foreign languages, but told him they meant something completely different to what he was actually saying.

Rylan also watched a performance from one of the supposed Eurovision performers, only to see their costume burst into flames and force Rylan to think on his feet and tell viewers that there had been an accident.

The fire was part of a planned component in the act, meaning Rylan genuinely believed a serious and dangerous error had taken place, until he spotted Ant and Dec stood behind him.

Viewers of the show called the prank "brilliant".
