Say goodbye to yet another Bachelor in Paradise couple, as Katie Morton and Chris Bukowski are officially calling it quits.
The pair, which had been one of three couples to get engaged on the Bachelor franchise reality series down in Mexico this past summer, announced the split in a joint statement on Instagram Tuesday morning.
Speaking with a unified voice during this difficult time, Katie and Chris revealed the breakup:
“One of the many lessons this life has taught us is that it’s okay to be stubborn in the pursuit of happiness. To fight for what is real and good, and that often times the hardest thing and the right thing are the same. We’ve reached a point in our story where we agree it’s best to go our separate ways. We have chosen to love and respect each other as friends because that’s the base of our relationship, and it’s what is most natural for us.”
And they continued from there, thanking family and friends and all who had supported them along the way:
“We are incredibly thankful for the support we’ve received from our family, friends and everyone who supported us throughout our journey — from paradise to this moment. We are grateful for everything that we’ve learned in this chapter, and are hopeful for what is to come in life and in love for both of us.”
Wow. Sad to see!
As you can peep (below), both posted that message to IG this morning, along with their own respective pics to boot:
Powerful.
And as for Chris, he decided to share a picture taken from the moment the couple officially got engaged, back on the beach during filming for the hit summer reality show (below):
Such a happy moment, that was…
A Long Time Coming?
To be honest, it’s interesting — though not surprising — to see Katie and Chris have officially split. The pair made no secret of their relationship struggles in the last few months to begin with, and Katie even famously appeared on the summer show’s September 17 season finale without wearing her engagement ring!
At the time, she opened up to host Chris Harrison about feeling “conflicted” in the relationship, saying:
“I just put in so much effort every day and I love him so much, but I put in so much that my tank empties and if I’m not getting it filled, I break down. I fell in love with potential that may never come to fruition, but I’m just praying it does.”
So, yeah, not exactly a ringing endorsement for the future of their relationship, even back then. And now, three months later, it’s all over.
