Barbra Streisand has become the latest celebrity to ensure the future of George Floyd’s daughter is secured, by gifting the little one with Disney stock.
Gianna, seven, received a thoughtful care package from Barbra, 78, who sent over copies of two of her albums – My Name Is Barbra and Color Me Barbra.
But perhaps more importantly, she included paper copies which confirm that Gianna is now a shareholder in Disney.
Gianna proudly shared photos of her holding the stocks with the caption: ‘Thank You @barbrastreisand for my package, I am now a Disney Stockholder thanks to you.’
It comes after rapper Kanye West generously set up a fund for Gianna to attend university one day, while also donating $1.5 million (£2 million) to the legal teams of other black people who have been killed by gun violence in recent months.
Last week, Gianna was seen attending her father’s funeral in Houston where he was laid to rest after a weekend of memorials.
George, 46, tragically died on 25 May after a white police officer pressed his knee into his neck for almost nine minutes. Four Minnesota police officers have been arrested and charged over George’s death, including Derek Chauvin who is charged with second degree murder.
Earlier this month, Gianna appeared on Good Morning America alongside her mother Roxie Washington.
Roxie said of George’s relationship with his daughter: ‘He would put her on his shoulders. She didn’t have to play with nobody else because daddy was gonna play all day long.
‘That was his baby. He loved his little girl.’
George’s death has sparked anti-racism Black Lives Matter protests around the world.
