Caitlyn Jenner EXCLUSIVE: Star’s doting mother, 93, says she WON’T be watching ‘I’m A Celeb’… as she opens up about transition and her ‘slow-moving’ relationship with Kardashians
Caitlyn Jenner’s feisty mother has branded I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! ‘torture’ to watch and thinks the reality star should stick to spending her time on the golf course, MailOnline can exclusively reveal.
The ex-athlete’s 93-year-old mum, Esther Jenner, will not be watching the ITV series as Caitlyn joins her campmates Down Under, but thinks viewers will love her and is confident she will be a success on the star-packed reality show.
In a world exclusive interview, Esther blasted: ‘We have a Survivor [show] here in the United States, I never watched it, I’ve skimmed over it, or seen previews and I decided that I don’t really care for that.

‘That’s not entertainment to me, to see somebody frightened. I think she could spend a lot more pleasant times on the golf course!
‘I’ve tried not to think of Caitlyn being over there [in Australia]. It’s three weeks… a long time to go without hearing from her.
‘When she’s in the States she calls me almost every day, so I’ve got to live without hearing her.’
Speaking from her home in Lewiston, Idaho, Esther says she’s heard of how mentally challenging the show can be, saying: ‘It’s like a competition, I guess, and there are not very many people that get through it. I don’t want to be thinking about that at 1 o’clock in the morning, I cannot sleep.
Fears! ‘I have no idea [why she’s doing this]. I don’t ask her questions to get into her mind or how she feels about this or that. My big worry is [she may] get bitten by a snake or a poisonous insect. I’m afraid of snakes anyway, even if they’re not poisonous,’ Esther said

‘She had to tell me she was going on this show, and I said, “I never liked the show here in the United States and I didn’t watch it!”‘
When the subject turned to the terrifying Bushtucker Trials, including eating cockroaches and being trapped in confined spaces with creepy crawlies, Esther said: ‘I don’t what you to say anything that’s going to frighten me or upset me, I’m better off not to know.
Ignorance is bliss: When the subject turned to the terrifying Bushtucker Trials, including eating cockroaches and being trapped in confined spaces with creepy crawlies, Esther said – ‘I don’t what you to say anything that’s going to frighten me or upset me, I’m better off not to know’
‘We can’t see it here in the United States. I don’t need to torture myself, if it’s frightening, I don’t want to know.
‘I’ll just my waiting for when she can call me again when it’s over. I’m sure I’ll hear about it on the news.’
Esther, who is supportive of Caitlyn’s transition but still struggles to use the correct pronouns, feels she has what it takes to win, explaining: ‘The thing I know about Caitlyn, and I know her well, is that she has a lot of determination. How do you think she ever won that gold medal in decathlon?
‘And she admits she doesn’t think she was the best decathlete. Fred Dixon was another American, and Bruce [Caitlyn] thought Fred was a better decathlete than he was.

‘But he said, “I think with Fred, he wanted to make the Olympic team, and he did, I think that was his goal, my goal was to win the gold medal!”‘
In previous interviews Esther has been highly critical of Caitlyn’s ex-wife, Kris Jenner, alleging she was hyper-controlling and an unsuitable choice of spouse for her beloved son.
Now she says the Kardashians’ relationship with Caitlyn ‘is good but slow moving’, though tensions with matriarch Kris, 64, still remain.
She admits she still can’t watch Keeping Up With The Kardashians, declaring: ‘She [Kris] made him look like a milk-toast man! I wasn’t fond of that programme, there was no plot, and why it was such a hit I’ll never know, and I guess it still is’
Understanding: Esther hopes campmates understand Caitlyn’s transition and respect her, saying – ‘It’s nothing she asked for, it’s a condition and it starts in the mother’s womb’

‘When your child becomes, oh golly, world famous, it’s very difficult for a mother to put them in that category, he’s not a celebrity to me, he’s my kid. It’s just very difficult, but I’m no different than any other mother, I love my kids.’

Back to basics: Esther, who grew up on a small farm where her family had three cows, a flock of chickens, and grew their own vegetables, is pleased Caitlyn will have to learn to cook from scratch in the jungle while living on rations
Having previously competed in the short-lived US version of I’m a Celeb in 2003, Caitlyn’s mum says she enjoys the escape from the fast-paced celebrity lifestyle in LA and a break from the Kardashian generation of social-media obsession.
‘She was on one survivor program here in the United States, I never watched it, I didn’t even know he [she] was going to be on it, and I didn’t care for the format,’ she said.
‘[But] Caitlyn said you have time to reflect, you have time to look inside your mind, figure things out, he said there are a lot of benefits to that exercise, it’s one heck of an exercise!

‘I know it’s very popular in England and Australia, I don’t know maybe people like to see other people uncomfortable or frightened or whatever, I don’t like that. I like to see people peaceful, happy.’

‘Maybe she’ll learn something, that’s good for her, I approve!’ she laughed. ‘They love her in Great Britain, she’s loved everywhere. I’ll [just] be glad to get her phone call when she’s finished.’
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs nightly on ITV at 9PM.
