Caroline Flack has reportedly jetted off to Los Angeles for an escape in the sun after being charged with assault following a row with her boyfriend Lewis Burton.
The former Love Island presenter reportedly doesn’t want to return to the Islington flat where the incident allegedly took place earlier in December, so has flown out to LA for relaxation away from the spotlight.
A source told The Sun: ‘Caroline feels trapped in the UK. She can’t see or communicate with Lewis but she also doesn’t want to return to her flat because her every move is documented by photographers…
‘So after spending the festive period with family and friends, she’s jetted to LA.’
According to the insider, the TV star wants to ‘feel the sunshine on her skin’ and enjoy long hikes to ‘clear her head’.
Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for comment.
Caroline, 40, appeared in court last week where she pleaded not guilty to common assault. During the hearing, the presenter was accused of attacking Lewis, 27, with a lamp but both have denied the allegations.
Lewis, a former professional tennis player and model, has stated he does not wish to press charges against Caroline and they remain a couple despite being banned from direct and indirect contact.
She is due to appear in court again on 4 March.
Since the arrest, Caroline has decided to step down from hosting the upcoming series of winter Love Island, which will be filmed in South Africa for the first time. She had already starred in the promotional videos but has now been replaced by Laura Whitmore, who will front the main show and Love Island Aftersun.
Announcing her decision to step down, Caroline said in a statement: ‘There have been a significant number of media reports and allegations in regard to my personal life.
‘While matters were not as have been reported I am committed to cooperating with the appropriate authorities and I can’t comment further on these matters until the legal process is over.
‘However Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order not to detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is stand down from Series 6.
‘I want to wish the incredible team working on the show a fantastic series in Cape Town.’
She later showed support for Laura taking her place.
It’s now claimed Caroline’s other show, The Surjury, may never air on Channel 4 in light of the situation.
