The Country Music Association on Wednesday announced the Country Music Hall of Fame’s 2020 class of inductees.
The new inductees are Dean Dillon in the songwriter category, Marty Stuart in the Modern Era Artist category, and Hank Williams Jr. in the Veterans Era Artist category.
Sometimes referred to as “the last of the troubadours,” Dillon has written hits for numerous country acts.
His contributions include George Strait‘s first charting single “Unwound” and signature songs “The Chair,” “Marina Del Rey,” and “Ocean Front Property.”
Stuart began his music career in his pre-teen years before later playing with Lester Flatt‘s band and Johnny Cash‘s band.
During his solo career that began in 1985, Stuart amassed four Gold albums and six Top 10 singles during the 1990s, his commercial peak as a recording artist.
He went on to become not only a revered musician and singer but also a songwriter, producer, archivist, photographer, television host, and spokesman for the history and traditions of the music that he holds so dear.
An artist who began his career at age eight, Hank Williams Jr. has bridged generations by mastering time-honored styles as well as embracing rock and blues.
The son of Country Music Hall of Fame member Hank Williams Sr., Hank Jr. logged more than one hundred charting hits over five decades. Ten of those records reached No. 1 on the Billboard Country singles chart.
The artists will be officially inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame at the traditional Medallion Ceremony later this year.
