Singer Miley Cyrus has been in the news a lot, especially when it comes to her relationship with another artist, Cody Simpson. Does Simpson remind her of another celebrity who passed away years ago? Let’s find out.
Miley Cyrus was married to Liam Hemsworth
Cyrus previously had a ten-year relationship with actor Liam Hemsworth. The two met while starring in the film The Last Song, based on the Nicholas Sparks book of the same name. In it, they played love interests, and this translated into an off-screen romance.
Hemsworth and Cyrus’ relationship was rocky for a time. They broke up after getting engaged in 2012 but were back together by 2016. Cyrus and Hemsworth then tied the knot in Dec. 2018. After a couple of months of rumors, they officially called it quits in Aug. 2019.
Now, she’s dating Cody Simpson
After splitting up with Hemsworth, Cyrus briefly dated Kaitlynn Carter, ex-wife of Brody Jenner. However, that relationship soon came to a close without Cyrus addressing it publicly. Shortly thereafter, she was linked to Simpson.
Simpson and Cyrus quickly began to reveal their relationship to the public. They appeared in one another’s Instagram stories, and even dressed up in a couple’s costume for Halloween, as Billy Idol and Perri Lister. Simpson even attended Cyrus’ brother’s wedding with her as her date.
Cyrus has a ‘type’
Back when their relationship first came into view in early October, Cyrus took to social media to discuss how the paparazzi was hounding her over her new beau. However, she also spoke about how much she likes Simpson, making it clear that this wasn’t just a fling.
In her Instagram Story, Cyrus posted a shirtless photo of Simpson, writing a checklist: “22 [check] Australian (my type) [check] Abs [check] Hot Girl Fall [check].” What’s most interesting here is that she pointed out a pattern: Both Simpson and Hemsworth are Australian, which is, apparently, her preference in a partner.
Did she compare Simpson to Heath Ledger?
Cyrus hasn’t said anything about this since, but the media was quick to catch on to the Simpson-Hemsworth comparison. Meanwhile, she’s been enjoying her time with Simpson, getting tattoos together and singing his new song, “Golden Thing,” which is inspired by her.
On Nov. 4, 2019, Cyrus posted a series of images of the late actor Heath Ledger in her Instagram Story. On each of them, she simply wrote “Type.” Is she comparing Ledger, another blonde Australian, to Simpson? Around the same time, Simpson posted a screenshot of Ledger from a Vanity Fair cover story.
The reason Simpson and Cyrus work well together
Looks and home country are all well and good when it comes to choosing a partner, but there are a few other reasons why Simpson and Cyrus make sense as a couple. They share a profession, for one thing, as well as a proclivity for tattoos. And both enjoy sharing their lives on social media.
However, the most notable compatibility here is that both Cyrus and Simpson are sober. Separately, the two have posted in their Instagram Story about being off of substances. Given how frequently alcohol is a part of celebrity culture it’s likely helpful to have a significant other who also doesn’t partake.
