EastEnders actor Max Bowden, 27, shared a cryptic post on his Instagram stories seemingly making a dig at recent reports he has "grown close" to his co-star Shona McGarty, 30.
The Ben Mitchell star posted a snap of himself lying in bed fully-clothed next to fellow EastEnders star Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater on the BBC soap.
While the pair were just relaxing as friends and 34 year old Lacey is happily married and shares children Dusty and Trilby with her husband Matt Kay, Max took the opportunity to appear to make a dig at the latest claims about his love life.
"Plot twist….. @laceyturner," the actor jokingly wrote alongside the image, which saw him grinning away as he took a selfie.
Cuddling up to a blue teddy bear in a casual zip-up top, Max leaned against tropical pillows as Lacey, who wore a black patterned top and her brunette locks loose in the picture, also pulled a puzzled face next to him.
It comes as Max was reportedly seen leaving Whitney Dean star Shona McGarty's home after the pair were said to be "inseparable" following Max's split from his pregnant lover.
In pictures obtained by The Sun, the actor was seen departing from the red-head's Hertfordshire home on Wednesday.
A source also told the publication: “They spend as much time together as they can. Most nights or mornings Max is seen entering or leaving Shona’s home.
"He wears the same clothes most days."
The source went on to claim that the co-stars have been trying to keep their "relationship a secret" and as a result "drive into the EastEnders set separately".
“But anybody who sees them together can see how they feel about each other," the source added.
The BBC have declined to comment when previously contacted by OK!. While Max and Shona's representatives are yet to respond to requests for comment.

Another source previously claimed to the publication that Max and Shona have been good friends for a while and in the wake of the former's split has been a support for him and a shoulder to cry on.
The source said while it hadn't been the "easiest of starts" for the actors as a "couple", they have "grown closer".
"But they don’t want to make a big fuss of things," the source added.
Max became single earlier this year after splitting with his ex-girlfriend Roisin Buckle, who has since revealed she is pregnant with his child.
The former couple have both said they are committed to staying on good terms for the baby.
