Inside Dallas and Happy Days stars Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl's relationship

Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl have been going strong since meeting virtually during the pandemic, and the couple recently opened up about their relationship.

Linda, 66, who is best known for her appearance as Ashley on Happy Days and Patrick, 72, who starred as Bobby Ewing on Dallas found love in 2020 after getting to know each other from a distance during quarantine.

The couple first spoke about their fledgling relationship in November 2020 with Patrick telling Extra he was not expecting to find love again after the death of his wife, ballet dancer Carlyn Rosser, in 2017.

He revealed at the time: ‘That’s the gift that Covid gave me – Linda Purl is the lady in my life. I wasn’t looking for it. I didn’t feel I needed it … and then fate just went “swoosh!” and changed the perspective.’

The couple had begun speaking every day in a group chat with another friend who later dropped out and left them to it, graduating to hours long FaceTime and Zoom calls with one another before they finally met in person.

Patrick and Linda were photographed kissing in car in Santa Barbara in October 2021, with the couple reclining in the back to have a snooze.

The happy couple spoke about their relationship on This Morning this week, with Patrick revealing: ‘It’s a Covid romance. It literally is. And to shorten the story is that we didn’t sit in the same room for almost four months but we spoke to each other every day.’

Linda added: ‘Our paths had crossed a couple of times. We bumped into each other at some sort of event in Los Angeles, I was living in New York, Patrick in Oregon, said, “Hi, how are you.”’

Patrick revealed: ‘For almost three months, two and a half plus months, we Zoomed every single night for two to three hours.’

He admitted he accidentally said ‘I love you’ at the end of a call a couple of months in to them speaking, and then drove 23 hours to Linda’s doorstep, with the couple being inseparable ever since.

Patrick was previously married to Carlyn from 1974 until her death in 2017, sharing two sons.

Linda has been married four times and shares a son with third husband, British screenwriter and producer Alexander Cary.
