The Chase star Jenny Ryan, 38, celebrated her birthday alone today as she explained she had to “cancel” her plans. It comes as the UK Government has urged the British public to remain indoors in a bid to slow the spread of coronavirus.
The ITV favourite also took the opportunity to send well-wishes to her mum and admitted she “wished I could spend today with you, mum”.
In view of her 67,000 Twitter followers, Jenny shared a clip where she explained how she will be celebrating her new milestone.
The quizmaster decided to have a virtual party where she could still see her friends via a party app.
Jenny said: “I had to cancel my birthday plans but I’m going to make the most of it. So we’re having a virtual birthday party. I’ll be here at home in the disco.

“Hopefully, all of my friends will be joining me on all those lovely virtual platforms that we can use to get in touch with each other. They can join in the fun. I’ve even got myself a cake.”
She finished: “And I just want to say, I wish I could spend today with you, mum. And we’ll make the most of it and have a double party when everything is better.”
Jenny captioned the clip with a poignant message, as she penned: “Apart, but never alone. #BritainGetTalking @ITV @WeAreSTV.”
Fans inundated the star with birthday messages, as one person said: “Stay safe and well.”
Another person chimed: “Hope you had a great virtual party and a wonderful birthday.”
While a third person added: “Sending you a socially-distancing hug.”
Jenny has since taken to the micro-blogging site and thanked her social media users for the birthday wishes.
She explained that she was using the day to “count my blessings” amid the virus outbreak.
Jenny wrote: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes! I’m using today to count my blessings, which is why I’m raising never-more needed funds for @TrussellTrust – please imagine you were buying me a birthday drink and donate here.”
The Vixen’s message comes as the public faces a nationwide lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pleaded with the public to stay indoors with much of the UK expected to bask in warm weather this weekend.
With temperatures set to soar to 20C, the Prime Minister, who remains in self-isolation after failing to fully recover from coronavirus, urged millions of Britons who may be going “stir crazy” to avoid temptation and abide by the government’s lockdown advice.
