John Cho injured during ‘Cowboy Bebop’ filming, thanks fans for support as he recovers

Netflix has confirmed actor John Cho is recovering from an injury after he thanked his followers for their support Friday.

Cho has been in New Zealand filming for Netflix’s live-action series “Cowboy Bebop,” in which he plays the lead character.

In a statement to USA TODAY Saturday, a Netflix spokesperson said, “Our thoughts are with John and he has our complete support as he recuperates from this injury.”

According to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, the injury occurred on set earlier this month and has caused a lengthy production hiatus.

Cho took to social media to thank his followers for their support, sharing a photo of a belt buckle with an ocean scene and the Japanese symbol for “water.”

” ‘Water can flow or it can crash.’ – Bruce Lee… Thanks for all the well wishes everyone,” he wrote on Instagram. “Gonna be back and flowing in no time!”

Cho’s “Cowboy Bebop” co-star Mustafa Shakir commented on the post.

“Big love cowboy! We got this,” Shakir wrote.

“Cowboy Bebop” is based on the 1998 Japanese animated series of the same name. The show follows the adventures of bounty hunter Spike Spiegel (Cho) and his partners, who chase down the galaxy’s most dangerous criminals.
