Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones bore a strong resemblance to her grandmotherPrincess Margaret as she made her modelling debut ahead of her 21st birthday.
The 20 year oldroyal, who is 26th in line to the throne, was bridesmaid at thewedding ofPrince William andKate Middleton in 2011.
However, despite her regal connections, it is unusual for Lady Margarita to appear in the public eye.
She leads a quiet life in Paris, where she shares a flat with a friend and studies jewellery and photography. She is even able to bike around the city without being recognised.
However, ahead of her 21st birthday in May, Lady Margarita has appeared in a photoshoot for a high society magazine.
She has graced the cover ofTatler, who says she has her grandmother Princess Margaret’s ‘inquisitive look’, adding: “The result: a proper English rose bombshell.”
In the accompanying article, Lady Margarita discussed how her grandmother had been an influence on her jewellery tastes.
She talked about how Princess Margaret had society jeweller Andrew Grima make a brooch from a piece of lichen she picked up at Balmoral.
“That was an influence, because I love more natural pieces,” she added. “I like nothing too factory-made or straight. I like a little character.”
It is said Margarita’s creative instincts are likely to have been nurtured by her parents the Earl of Snowdon – a carpenter and creator of luxury goods – and Serena, Countess of Snowdon, a keen amateur sculptor, who are amicably divorced.
Her late grandfather was renowned portrait photographer Antony, Earl of Snowdon, who was married to Margaret from 1960 to 1978.
Like his granddaughter, Tony Snowdon –who died in 2017 – also made jewellery, including the engagement ring he gave Princess Margaret.
It was a pink-red ruby stone surrounded by diamonds to look like a rosebud – a nod to her middle name, Rose. Replicas of the ring are still sold today.
Margarita told Tatler: “[It was] very simple and very small and I think that’s probably what he wanted, nothing crazy and overstated. It’s timeless.”
Lady Margarita recently made her debut into high-flying London society as sheattended Tatler's Little Black Book party in November, 2022.
She looked stunning at the event – which was also attended by the likes ofPrincess Diana's twin nieces, Lady Amelia and Lady Eliza Spencer – in an outfit that bore resemblance to an ensemble once worn by Princess Margaret.
Tatler said at the time: "Margarita was the belle of last night's ball: she spent the evening dancing with cousins Robert Armstrong-Jones and Samuel Chatto, and her friends, until the early hours. All the girls wanted to be her and all the boys wanted to be with her."
Lady Margarita never actually met Margaret, however, as she was born three months after the late Queen’s sister died in February 2002following a stroke at the age of 71.
