Kate Lawler proudly unveils C-section scar and vows to never remove it

TV star Kate Lawler, 41, has proudly unveiled her C-section scar after giving birth to her daughter in February 2021, and has vowed to “never remove it”.

The former Virgin Radio DJ shares her daughter Noa, one, whom she affectionately calls ‘Tayto’ with her fiancé Martin 'Boj' Bojtos, 48.

In a candid post to Instagram marking International Caesarean Section Awareness month, Kate shared a series of snaps in black underwear, showing off her washboard stomach, heart-shaped bellybutton jewellery and her caesarean section scar.

In one, she held her daughter Noa, who wore a cute baby pink romper, close to her side and showed off a bright red manicure.

Another showed her in hospital as she underwent the c-section, which is where babies are delivered through an incision in the mother’s abdomen.

In the caption, Kate went into detail about her experience with her caesarean, revealing that she had opted for a "planned, abdominal birth" for her first child, which she described as a “magical experience”.

Giving more details, she said: “The lights were dimmed, Boj was by my side, we had a playlist on of our favourite songs and the surgery went well with no complications.”

Speaking about her scar, she wrote: “I’m proud of my scar and will never remove it permanently as it reminds me of one of the most special days of my life.

“This tiny red smile that I catch a glimpse of every day in the mirror still makes me feel in awe of what the female body is capable of.

Advertising scar reducer patches, Kate said that they are “designed to flatten, soften and lighten scars, old or new.”

Finishing her post, Kate said: “Like every woman, I want to feel confident and happy with my body so I embraced how I looked during pregnancy and I love my belly birth scar as without these, there would be no Tayto.”

Kate has been open about her battle with postnatal depression following the birth of Noa in her debut book, Maybe Baby, where she admitted feeling “emotionally drained”.

Kate toldThe Sun:"I remember rocking her, going: ‘Shush, shush.’

"But you’re just like: ‘Oh my god, please. What can I do?’"The sound of a baby crying when you’re emotionally drained, when you haven’t slept and you already feel so depleted…

“You’re lacking energy and you’re hungry and you’re tired and your partner is sleeping next door and you’re thinking: ‘Oh my god, why am I doing this?’”
