Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos slammed for 'painful' 'Live' dynamic as Kelly plays audio of Mark snoring, plus more news

‘Live with Kelly and Mark’ faces more criticism after day 2

Two days into their newly christened show, “Live with Kelly and Mark,” Kelly Ripa and her husband — and now full-time co-host, Mark Consuelos — are facing more criticism from viewers. After the couple’s second morning on the air together on Tuesday (April 18), social media lit up with complaints about the focus on their home life — specifically, on Mark’s habit of snoring loudly, which Kelly shared by playing an audio clip from her phone of her husband’s snooze-sounds. “It can’t be more obvious that Kelly and Mark don’t do their homework to talk about more current events,” one irritated viewer wrote on Twitter (via Page Six). “They’ve gone as low as playing a recording of Mark’s snoring! We’re doomed with these two! Bye!” Another viewer wrote, “So you guys will talk about your marriage and life at home all morning,” then suggested they try a “reality show” instead. Viewers also expressed discontent with Kelly and Mark’s dynamic in general, as compared to Kelly’s rapport with past co-hosts including Ryan Seacrest and Kelly’s original co-host, Regis Philbin. “Remember the days with Regis when REAL social & news issues were discussed?” asked a Twitter user. “NOT ‘Bedtime eating & sleeping habits,’ or ‘We’re we walking or jogging in Central Park,’ or many other mundane things that were conversed about! Big fail!!”

While the response to the married co-hosts’ pairing wasn’t entirely negative on social media — some fans said they loved seeing the new “energy” the couple brought to the show, while others praised Kelly and Mark’s banter — more than a few called out Kelly for interrupting her husband repeatedly. “I am so happy to see Mark & Kelly this morning….But Kelly could PLEASE LET HIM TALK….!!! OMG…!” one person wrote. “Let him start and finish a story his way…It’s the only way it’s going work.”

Despite the negative feedback, Kelly and Mark seem pretty content. On Monday, as social media users described their vibe together in terms ranging from “brutal” to “painful,” Mark told Us Weekly working with Kelly felt “like home,” while Kelly said Mark “did amazing” on his first day of work.

Hayden Panettiere sought ‘liver specialist’ treatment amid intense alcohol, opioid addictions

A few years ago, at the height of her addiction to alcohol and painkillers, Hayden Panettiere could barely recognize herself. That turned out to be in large part because of the damage her addiction was doing to her liver. “I hit 30. My face was swollen. I had jaundice. My eyes were yellow,” the actress, now 33, recalls in a new cover story for Women’s Health. “I had to go to a liver specialist,” she explains. “I was holding on to weight that wasn’t normally there. My hair was thin and coming out in clumps.” Her alcohol issues began a decade before that, she says, when her quick rise to stardomon “Nashville” began taking a toll on her mental health. “I was being told how to be and how to live by so many people in my life. I wanted certain decisions to be my own, and no one could stop me,” Hayden recalls, describing her substance abuse as “an act of defiance” and an unhealthy “coping mechanism.” The addiction only got worse when she began battling post-natal depression after welcoming her first child, then suffered a resurgence of pain from a past neck injury. Like many Americans, the star turned to opioid prescriptions for help. “I was in a lot of pain. My tolerance got so high so fast that it became a problem,” she recalls. “I should have gone on antidepressants, but you have to find the right one that works for you. They don’t mix well with alcohol, and I wasn’t ready to stop drinking.”

She checked herself into rehab in 2015, but her sobriety didn’t stick. Finally, in 2021, Hayden returned to a treatment center for more help. “I did a lot of work on myself,” she says. “After eight months of intensive therapy, I felt like I had this blank canvas to work with.” While her head began to feel more grounded, she says, “my body still didn’t feel like it belonged to me.” Hayden underwent breast reduction surgery in November 2022, which she says helped restore her confidence. Today, the “Scream VI” star says she’s continued with therapy, focusing on “forgiveness” and her 12-step program and learning a lot about herself along the way. “If someone wants to be a good person and to be the best version of themselves, they can choose to do that,” she says.

Katy Perry booed for the first time on ‘American Idol’

Katy Perry’s scathing critique of “American Idol” contestant Nutsa on Monday (April 17) did not sit well with the show’s audience, who audibly booed her after she said her piece. Katy was responding to the 25-year-old singer’s rendition of”Paris (Ooh La La)” by Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on the show’s Top 26 in Hawaii when she said, “Nutsa, every time you take the stage, it’s like you glitter bomb the stage,” according to Entertainment Tonight.”Listen, I think one thing I personally would like to see from you is not one piece of glitter the next time. I know that’s gonna be hard,” she added, cuing a loud round of boos.

“Whoa, hostility!” Katy’s fellow judge, Lionel Richie, exclaimed. “Yes! Katy got booed!” added Luke Bryan. Katy soldiered on despite the response. “OK, first time in six seasons, woo-hoo!” she joked. “But what I’m saying is that, I’d like you to flip the script. I think we want to be pulled in by our hearts too. I’d love to see that, and I think America might too.” The Georgia-based singer, for his part, agreed with Katy and vowed to put more depth into his next performance.

Jonathan Majors parts ways with manager, publicist amid assault charges

Emmy-nominated Marvel star Jonathan Majors has reportedly been dropped by both his talent manager and his publicist in the wake of his recent arrest on assault and harassment charges, according to Variety. An insider tells the outlet management firm Entertainment 360 has ended its relationship with the “Creed III” star. A separate source confirmed that as of late March, Jonathan no longer appeared on the client roster for PR firm the Lede Company.

Jonathan, 33, was arrested in New York City on March 25 in connection with an alleged domestic dispute with a 30-year-old woman. Authorities said the woman was hospitalized after sustaining “minor injuries to her head and neck,” according to Variety. Jonathan’s lawyers, however, have denied the assault took place. In a statement to CNN after the actor’s arrest, his attorney, Priya Chaudhry, said Jonathan “called 911 out of concern for the woman’s mental health,” after which police arrested him “due to an NYPD protocol requiring arrest in certain circumstances.” She later shared text messages the woman allegedly sent Jonathan in which she says authorities “assured” her he wouldn’t be “charged,” and told her his arrest was “protocol” stemming from her injuries and reference to an argument. “I’m so sorry you’re in this position. Will make sure nothing happens about this. I told them it was my fault for trying to grab your phone,” the message said. In a second text, she allegedly wrote: “I reiterated how this was not an attack and they do not have my blessing on any charges being placed. I read the paper they gave me about strangulation and I said point blank this did not occur and should be removed immediately.”
