Lauren Goodger unrecognisable after attack left her hospitalised, says pal

Lauren Goodger has reportedly been left looking “unrecognisable” following reports that the reality TV star suffered a broken eye socket after being assaulted.

Lauren, 35, has had an undeniably difficult few weeks following the untimely death of her ex boyfriend Jake McLean, 33, following a car crash in Turkey, which was shortly followed by the passing of her newborn baby daughter Lorena.

Now, following Lorena’s funeral, which is thought to have taken place last week, Lauren was reportedly assaulted and taken to hospital.

Lauren’s close friend Lauryn Goodman has said the former The Only Way Is Essex star looks “unrecognisable”.

“She is unrecognisable. [It] brings me to tears every time I look at her,” Lauryn said.

“Please if anyone ever finds themselves in this situation never think staying quiet or hiding is best.

"Always confide and reach out to people. Better days will come and you aren't trapped. Promise. Be strong for your little ones."

A statement from Metropolitan Police last week confirmed that a 25 year old man had been arrested on suspicion of assault.

The statement shared with OK! read: “Police were called at 00:37hrs on Thursday, 4 August to reports of an altercation at a residential address in Upminster, Essex. Officers attended. At the scene a woman, aged 30s, was found with facial injuries.

“A man was arrested on suspicion of assault. He was taken to an east London police station and subsequently bailed pending further enquiries.”

Prior to Lorena’s funeral, Lauren spoke to OK! about how she never thought she’d have to plan her own child’s funeral.

Discussing her daughter’s tragic death, she said: “I wasn’t going to have a post-mortem at first, but I changed my mind. I feel like I need answers. I need more of an understanding of why this happened.

“I don’t blame anyone, I can’t. It is what it is, and obviously it’s awful. I’d do anything to rewind it. I guess I can blame myself, but then again I think it’s happened and I can’t change it. I’m not getting anywhere by blaming myself. I have to try and move forwards and accept it. But first I need to understand it. That’s why I changed my mind about the post-mortem.”

It was later revealed that Lorena may have died as a result of two knots in her umbilical cord.
