Meghan Markle sits in on reading with kids as she misses Archie and Lili so much

Meghan Markle revealed how she was missing her two young children as she attended a reading on the second day of the Invictus Games.

The Duchess of Sussex is currently in the Netherlands with husband Prince Harry for the veteran sporting event on what is their first European together since departing the UK as senior royals in 2020.

While Megan was pictured in happy spirits enjoying the games, her mind was back home in California as she spoke about son Archie, three, and daughter Lilibet, 10 months, during a private event held at Zuiderpark on Sunday.

The 40 year old wished to sit in on a reading with children at the occasion as she told British army veteran James Stride they reminded her of her two little ones.

“Meghan was quite chatty and told me she was missing her children,” GB competitor James told the Daily Mail.

“She said she wanted to be with children as she was missing her own.”

The children who took part in the reading were in a tent hosted by the British Embassy in the Netherlands and listened in on army veteran James as he read from book Hairy Maclary, his favourite as a child.

'”Meghan told me she was familiar with the book and one that she read to her own children. She was very friendly, and the book was well known by her family,” the 37 year old continued.

This European trip for Harry and Meghan has been scheduled as the longest time away from their two children so far, so it's understandable why the Duchess would be missing them dearly.

Opening the second day of the Invictus Games on Sunday, the couple were seen looking loved-up as they held hands in front of the crowds and smiled and giggled together.

Harry and Meghan later met with British competitors and at one point were seen embracing a young athlete adorning a Union Jack flag before they sat to watch various games go on, including volleyball and archery.

Megan looked chic dressed in a cream blazer with a belt at the waist, blue slim-fitting jeans and a pair of tan court heels, while Harry kept his appearance smart casual dressed in a dark grey zipped top and khaki green tailored trousers.

Gushing over her husband onstage the day before, Megan told the crowd as she introduced Harry: "I could not love and respect him more and I know that all of you feel the same because he is your fellow veteran.

“Having served two tours of duty in Afghanistan and 10 years of military service, he is the founder of the Invictus Games and the father of our two little ones, Archie and Lilli. Please welcome my incredible husband Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex."
