Meghan Markle has legit so many crowns and tiaras at her disposal since she’s the Duchess of Sussex, but nothing will ever compare to the look of pure joy she had when someone put an Instagram crown filter on her when they tried taking a selfie together.
Before Meghan wrapped up the rest of her South Africa tour last week, she stopped to speak with Nikiwe Dlova, the founder of Own Ur Crown, a company that runs a pop-up salon and crafts headpieces. When Nikiwe went to take a quick video with Meghan, Meghan noticed that her head instantly became surrounded by a vibrant illustrated crown. When she started laughing and turned to look at Nikiwe, Meghan realized that the filter matched the headpiece she was holding and looked amazed. Thus, the purest moment on the internet was born. Prepare to have your heart grow 20 sizes in the course of 10 seconds:
Earlier that afternoon, Meghan gave her final speech of the tour and described how she used to feel in “despair” when she was seeing “what was happening in the world.” She explained, “When you constantly see and hear negativity, it can be overwhelming; you can feel powerless, and lost, you can feel different, confused, or like you just don’t belong. And I’m sure there is a young girl or boy watching this and thinking the exact same thing.” She then encouraged the audience by telling them they have the power to make a difference.
“Because whether you’re here in South Africa, at home in the U.K., the U.S., or around the world, you actually have the power within you to change things, and that begins with how you connect to others,” she said to the room packed with people.
Now that their tour is over, Meghan and Harry have turned their attention to their Instagram page and will continue to highlight their favorite organizations on their feed as well as work with the National Health Service to bring awareness to mental wellbeing.
