Piers Morgan blocks Alan Sugar on Twitter as they lock horns over coronavirus

Piers Morgan has dramatically blocked Alan Sugar on Twitter following their spat over the coronavirus pandemic online.

The Good Morning Britain host, 54, locked horns with The Apprentice judge amid growing concerns surrounding the ever-spreading virus, as Alan decided enough was enough before calling him out.

Alan tweeted: “Piersy after 3 days you have lost 7100 followers . Its telling you to shut up. Listen to the people @piersmorgan.

“We need some positive stuff in these horrible times try to lighten up a bit and find some thing interesting to talk about.”

But his comment fell on deaf ears as Piers continued with his serious approach towards the disease as he responded to the mogul soon after.

Piers hit back: “OK, blocking you now until this is over. Too serious for your idiocy.”

Much like all his other opinions, Piers’ views on the coronavirus have been very public.

The presenter has been consistently warning the public to take the pandemic more seriously, before saying: “This is war.”

Earlier this week Piers shared his confusion over why huge gatherings have been allowed to continue in parliament, or anywhere, amid the coronavirus outbreak in the United Kingdom.

His co-host Susanna Reid had asked whether it was "healthy" for the budget to go ahead given someone with the infection had been in the very building days ago, with it set to be very crowded today with around 650 MPs.

He told her on the show: "We're being guided by the science. As we understand it, if you have symptoms and have been in touch with Nadine or anyone else with coronavirus, you should immediately get in touch with 111, self-isolate.

"If you don't have symptoms, as we understand it at the moment the science and medical advice is you won't be carrying it or won't have it necessarily or won't be passing it on to other people.”

The number of confirmed coronavirus patients in the UK has jumped by 342 taking the total of confirmed cases to 1,140.

As of 9am on 14 March, a total of 37,746 people have been tested – 36,606 tested negative and 1,140 were positive, the Department of Health and Social Care said.

England's Chief Medical Officer also confirmed that 10 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 in England have sadly died – it brings the UK death toll to 21.
