Prince Harry sat down with Hoda Kotb during the Invictus Games, and opened up about his recent surprise visit to England where he saw his grandmother, the Queen. While Harry didn’t go into *too* many details, he did say “Being with her, it was great. It was just so nice to see her…she’s on great form.”
Harry also added that Her Majesty always has a “great sense of humor” with him, and said that “I’m just making sure that she’s, you know, protected and got the right people around her.”
Harry previously told the BBC about his visit, saying “She had plenty of messages for Team U.K., which I have already passed on to most of them. So, it was great to see her. I’m sure she would love to be here if she could.”
Harry’s comments are obviously pretty general and non-specific, which makes sense given what royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight about trust issues among the royals. “For the meeting with the queen, it was just the Queen, Meghan and Harry, and very few details of that meeting has been leaked. I suspect it’s going stay quite watertight,” she explained. “I think the Sussexes really have to prove that they can be trusted now, and that they are now back in touch with the family. Harry has met with his father, and with Camilla [Parker-Bowles]. He’s now had a private meeting with him, Meghan, and the queen.”
She added, “I think if details of, particularly that meeting with the queen come out, that’s going to put him in a very, very difficult position. They need to know that they can trust the Sussexes because the queen will be hoping that this will have been an ice breaker, and it will be the first of more meetings and trips over to England to come in the future.”
