Prince Harry truly believes Meghan is similar to Diana, says expert

With the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s documentary earlier this week, experts are continuing to pour over the series.

This includes body language specialist Darren Stanton, who believes Prince Harry’s gestures suggest he “truly believes” Meghan is similar to his late mother, Princess Diana.

During the first episode of the highly anticipated series, Harry described his wife as being “so similar” to his late mother – who died in a car crash whilst being pursued by paparazzi.

Telling filmmakers that the Duchess of Sussex has a “warmth about her”, he added that she has the same compassion, empathy and confidence as his mother.

Body language expert Daren Stanton stated that he believed that it was the former Suits actress’s charitable values and empathetic nature that drew Harry to Meghan.

The prince acknowledged this in a later episode, stating that: “What she already was doing and what I was already doing…this sort of came together in this beautiful matrimony…”.

Reflecting on other episodes in the docu-series, expert Darren Stanton added that the prince’s nonverbal cues show his true feelings toward his wife.

He said that was particularly evident when Prince Harry spoke about similarities between Meghan and his late mother.

Speaking to Betfair Casino: “When Harry was speaking about Meghan, I did not see any signs of deceptive behaviour or that he was faking his emotions for the cameras. His body language and behaviour seem to be totally congruent with what he is thinking.”

He added: “From his non-verbal communication, it's apparent that he truly believes Meghan is similar to Diana.”

He also noted Harry’s change in tone during the moment, stating: "Another thing that tells me he is being completely genuine about what he says about Meghan, is that he becomes more serious in the clip.”

The moment came as the prince reflected on his childhood and his late mother, stating that many of his memories from his early childhood had been blocked out due to trauma.

However the Duke of Sussex did say that he vividly remembers the late Princess of Wales’s smile and her “cheeky laugh” – adding that his wife was incredibly similar.

Darren Stanton said that viewers can see the depth of Harry’s feelings, telling press: "It's clear from Harry’s non-verbal communication that when he was speaking about his mother, we did see some micro-expressions of sadness. This is a clear indication that he still greatly feels loss for his mother."

It is unsurprising then that Harry has been incredibly protective of his wife and young children, after the trauma of losing his mother at such a young age – Prince Harry was only twelve at the time.

In a sombre moment, he told viewers: "I accept that there will be people around the world who fundamentally disagree with what I’ve done and how I’ve done it, but I knew that I had to do everything I could to protect my family, especially after what happened to my mum.”

“I didn’t want history to repeat itself.”
