Paddy McGuiness has spoken out after surviving a crash which saw him lose control of his supercar while filming Top Gear on Tuesday.
The presenter, 46, had crashed a £250k 1990 Lamborghini Diablo while filming for the BBC show in North Yorkshire when he skidded on oil at a slight curve in the road.
Paddy took to Instagram later that day to reassure fans that he was doing alright after the incident, though he looked shaken and bruised in the video message.

He admitted to fans: ‘It’s been a mad old day on Top Gear today, you might have seen that I had a bit of a shunt.
‘I finally got to drive one of my fantasy childhood cars, the Lamborghini Diablo, but it turns out 30-year-old supercars don’t like torrential rain, who’d have thought.
‘If you’ve ever owned a Diablo or you’ve driven one you’ll know just as well as me, oh my god, she can be a cruel mistress, she can be a cruel mistress that one.

Video message: In a video shared via Instagram Paddy was keen to reassure fans that he was fine after the incident, though he appeared to be slightly shaken and bruised

‘That V12 lures you in and suddenly “rawr” it bites you. Fingers crossed we get the car running again because it is an absolute beauty.’
Ending the video on a light note, Paddy joked: ‘I’m going to have a cup of tea, a paracetamol and a good old cry.’
Paddy’s wife Christine also took to Instagram to share a selfie with him, and said he was ‘absolutely fine’ after the incident and claimed the car was worse off than him.
She added that she it was ‘a minor incident’ and Paddy was ‘all good’ as the ‘lambo got it much more than he did’

A BBC spokesperson told MailOnline on Tuesday: ‘During Top Gear filming in North Yorkshire today presenter Paddy McGuinness’s car skidded and left the road, coming to an almost immediate stop.
‘Paddy was quickly taken to the production unit base for medical checks and is unhurt.
‘No other vehicles were involved and the Police, who had been monitoring filming, were quickly on the scene to assist.
‘Safety on Top Gear is always the production team’s priority and the vehicle’s speed at the time was within the road’s limit of 60mph.’

A source speaking to The Sun said he was just ‘a bit shaken’ and claimed: ‘Paddy is fine but a bit shaken as anyone would be when having a scare at speed.
‘It could have been a lot worse. There’s always paramedics and police on a Top Gear shoot so he was in good hands for a onceover but he’s smiling as ever.’
Paddy’s fellow presenters Freddie Flintoff and Chris Harris are not believed to have been at the scene, as the TV personality was said to be testing the car alone when he span out.

The publication claimed that the car was later seen covered in tarpaulin after Paddy was no longer in the vehicle.
It was also reported that the police attended the scene after a roadside officer saw the incident while on their patrol, as the road is said to have a high number of crashes and collisions.
Last week it was revealed that Top Gear had resumed filming after the coronavirus pandemic halted the latest series of the hit BBC car show.

In September, Freddie revealed he suffered a nasty escape after a high speed crash in a jet trike during filming. The cricket star, 41, insisted he was ‘absolutely fine’ after his jet trike careered off the road during a race at the Elvington Airfield near York. Freddie reportedly careered his high speed trike off the road as he filmed the high-speed race. Crew members rushed to Freddie – who was wearing a full motorcycling suit and helmet for the scenes – but he emerged with barely a scratch.

In the latest series of Top Gear, Paddy embarked on the ‘original’ American Road Trip with Freddie and Chris Harris. He arrived in their start point of Peru with a Pontiac Firebird which didn’t have a roof amongst several other problems. When the trio decided to test out their cars on a straight 1/4 mile stretch of road Paddy’s car only got a few yards before the back end of the axel came apart entirely and he was forced to abandon the car.

In a now famous segment from Top Gear, former presenter Jeremy flipped over a Reliant Robin multiple times. The motorcar journalist was flipping it over to prove that the three-wheeled car could easily tip over. In his Sunday Times driving column Jeremy revealed that he had actually asked crew to tinker with the car ‘so that the poor little thing rolled over every time I turned the steering wheel’.

Hosts Paddy, Freddie and Chris emerged from lockdown to reunite at Alton Towers Resort theme park in Staffordshire.
While the park may be closed to customers, the TV presenters made the most of the empty resort and filmed an electric car race.
Once inside Alton Towers, Paddy came up with an inventive way to ensure that the group all kept their distance, by carrying around a two metre pole.

The presenters had to navigate a Honda e, Mini Electric and Vauxhall Corsa-e around a specially constructed Top Gear maze spanning the 550-acre theme park and found themselves hurtling by rollercoasters such as Oblivion and Nemesis.

Paddy said: ‘I’ve always dreamed of having a theme park to myself for the day although these aren’t necessarily the circumstances I’d have chosen.
‘Mustn’t grumble though, it’s great to get the gang back together after lockdown and we’re raring to go – two-metres apart at all times of course!’
Clare Pizey, Top Gear’s Executive Producer commented: ‘We are so pleased to be able to start filming again and a deserted theme park is a great place to start.

Following the success of the first two series with the new trio, it was announced that Top Gear’s next series will be moving to BBC One. It will debut on the channel later this year.
