Susie Dent has been on Countdown since 1992 as the resident lexicographer and adjudicator.
The 53-year-old has certainly built up a huge fan base from her time on the long-running Channel 4 show, and she’s now revealed one of them has even proposed to her.
Susie explained during filming for one of the episodes, an audience member stood up to ask her an important question.
Speaking to Express.co.uk about odd fan moments, Susie spilled: “Years ago I did get a proposal from a member of the Countdown audience, who stood up with a sign in their hands.
That was a long time ago

“But that was a long time ago and I don’t think they were entirely serious!”
Susie is married to husband, Paul Atkins, and they have two children together, Lucy and Thea.
Rachel Riley’s co-star said she wouldn’t know if she gets any extremely weird requests from fans as letters are sorted out by the team before she sees them.
“I don’t know what’s sorted out by the Countdown team, any letters that they think are inappropriate, we don’t get given,” she added.
Susie said the fan mail she receives tends to be positive, with most people sending questions.
“I tend to get hundreds of emails about language, we invite viewers to send in questions and I try to answer those,” she said.
“I get hundreds and hundreds which is fantastic,” she continued. “You know we rely on that passion from our audience to keep the show going, we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Susie’s friend and Countdown maths whizz, Rachel, is currently pregnant with her first child with husband Pasha Kovalev.
But the Channel 4 favourite won’t be replaced when she’s on maternity leave as Susie explained they are filming very far in advance instead.
“I will miss her,” Susie said of her co-star. “We’re packing in the studio days so we can film ahead but I definitely can’t wait to meet the baby!
“There’s only one Rachel Riley,” she gushed.
Susie currently features in a new campaign video for Guide Dogs, which looks at how invaluable words and description are to those living with sight loss or who are visually impaired.
The charity are urging people to volunteer to be a My Guide, to help those in need, and Susie said she’s hoping to train to be one herself as she acknowledged it’s such a “great idea”.
She revealed: “I’m going to have training to see if I can be a My Guide to somebody near me and, essentially, what it entails is three hours a week or less to share an experience with those with sight loss or who are visually impaired.
“The guides will help with practical stuff, transport, navigating around obstacles and description comes into it I didn’t realise just how much the power of language mattered to them.”
Guide Dogs new Powers of Description campaign is supported by Susie Dent. Use your powers of description and volunteer to become a My Guide, a sighted guide to someone with sight loss, today at guidedogs.org.uk.
Countdown airs weekdays on Channel 4 at 2.10pm.
