Trolls Are Accusing Meghan Markle of Being a "Jinx" on Serena Williams and It's So Ugh

Because she’s the best friend ever, Meghan Markle flew all the way to New York (yes, on a commercial flight) to support her friend Serena Williams as she competed in the US Open. Which we can all agree was a huge effort—especially considering she has a young baby at home.

Serena ended up losing the game, and now, inevitably, people online are accusing Meghan of being a jinx on her friend—supposedly because Serena also lost the Wimbledon match Meghan was around for. Please join me in the world’s biggest eye-roll at this absolute nonsense.

To be clear: there are no such things are jinxes, and blaming Meghan for Serena’s loss is just another example of the unnecessary and relentless trolling that the Duchess has been dealing with. ALSO!!!! Serena played well and it was probably a great comfort for her to have a friend like Meghan be there for support after the game. But that hasn’t stopped Twitter from being its most Twitter-y, with comments like “Dear Meghan Markle please stop attending Serena’s finals matches. You are a jinx. Signed fans who are not her friends.”

Dear Meghan Markle please stop attending Serena’s finals matches. You are a jinx. Signed fans who are not her friends.

Meghan is a Jinx!! It happened when she showed up in Wimbledon and now at the U.S. Open.

How touching the Duchess Meghan Markle came to the U.S. Open to jinx Serena Williams. Serena was warned she was a bad omen she just used the Open to flee her disfavor at home. @usopen @serenawilliams #Megxit pic.twitter.com/ycgvKyEoLB

I’m not saying, entirely, that Duchess Meghan is a jinx, but Serena’s lost every finals match she’s attended ever since she became a princess…

Meghan. Duchess. Love you so much. Really do. Are you a jinx though?????? Has she been at most of the losses?

Truly just ugh @ what Meghan’s been dealing with lately. No wonder she doesn’t use Twitter.

The Duchess of Sussex has revealed she does not read newspapers or engage with Twitter during a discussion held to celebrate #InternationalWomensDay
