Zoe Ball: BBC Radio 2 host speaks out on missing show as she’s struck down by illness

Zoe Ball, 48, apologised to her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show listeners on Twitter last night after fans took to social media to ask where she was. With Gethin Jones, 41, and Nicki Chapman, 52, presenting in her place, fans were confused as to the reason for Zoe’s absence. “Gutted to say I’ve been taken down by a nasty bout of flu,” Zoe told her 339,000 followers. “Huge apologies for missing the R2 Breakfast Show & It Takes Two.” She also expressed her gratitude for her replacements, saying: “Thanks to @Nicki_Chapman & @GethincJones for stepping in. Promise to be back ASAP.

“Sending love to anyone else illin with this flu, it’s such a stinker,”(sic) the BBC Radio 2 favourite added.

Zoe’s illness still hadn’t subsided this morning, with Nicki once again sitting in for her.

On the programme, Nicki wished her colleague well, saying: “Get well soon Zoe!”
