There’s no power struggle at home for America’s favorite power couple — Alex Rodriguez admits fiancée Jennifer Lopez is the real “boss” in their household. The couple’s blended family includes Lopez’s 11-year-old twins Emme and Maximilian (with ex-husband Marc Anthony) and Rodriguez’s daughters Natasha, 14, and Ella, 11 (with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis). But when asked who holds the most sway, Rodriguez readily confessed that it’s not him.
During an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Rodriguez was asked by guest cohost Andy Cohen “who wears the pants” in the Lopez-Rodriguez household. It’s a valid question, right? When you have two dominant personalities, does one defer to the other? In the case of A-Rod and J.Lo, the answer is apparently yes — although Rodriguez is holding on to the fact that there’s a small window every day in which he retains the power. “Before she gets home, I’m the boss,” said the former Yankees player, laughing, “When she gets home, it’s over. Andy, when I get home, I’m like, ‘I’m security, I’m Uber, I’m the teacher.’”
That is, until everyone’s together. Rodriguez joked, “We have four kids and no one listens to dad.” Although who can really blame the kids? This is Jennifer Lopez we’re talking about. She practically has her own gravitational pull. If she asks you to do your homework, you do it. Because she’s Jennifer Lopez.
Of course, no one has to tell Rodriguez that. He clearly doesn’t mind being second-in-command inside their home or anywhere else for that matter. “She’s just such an incredible person,” he gushed to Kotb and Cohen.
Another benefit of his fiancee’s incredible accomplishments? It means Rodriguez is probably getting in some good “boss” time while J.Lo gets ready for the Super Bowl. Of getting the call to perform the Halftime Show with Shakira, Rodriguez told the rest of the Today crew, “She was, like, in tears… it was a lifelong dream to play at the Super Bowl. It’s in Miami. Our four kids are in Miami.”
Accordingly, Lopez has been logging some long hours. “She’s already been rehearsing for six weeks,” Rodriguez said. And you know what that means! A.Rod rules the roost right now.
