The John Wick universe is expanding and its venturing from film to TV series a lot sooner than one might expect. In a recent interview with Collider, director Chad Stahelski confirmed that another TV series is on its way.
When it comes to films, after four sequels, a spin-off is set to star Ana de Armas in Ballerina arriving next summer. Fans have also enjoyed The Continental, a prequel series that takes audiences on the journey of how Winston Scott, owner of the famed New York Continental hotel rose to power. When it comes to adding another series to the universe, Stahelski explained, “Again, if something clicked with me, like, believe me, man, all the ideas that our group of writers are working on now, I swear to you, I like them all. If you told me tomorrow I had to do any one of them, I’d be like, ‘Cool, man. That’s a great way to spend a year.’ They’re all cool ideas, and I have ideas on how I’d execute all of them. That’s what’s so fun about keeping it going. And we’re doing a John Wick TV show, which, again, keeps my head going.”
Stahelski continued to add that he would also like to helm a few of the episodes of the spin-off series, “I would love to do a couple of episodes of the TV show just because I think I’d have fun trying things that we didn’t get to try in the films. I mean, absolutely. There’s some great ideas. And to work with a different cast and a different story structure without John Wick, it would be a fun challenge.” The director also shared that while Reeves’ character has seen. a definitive end in John Wick: Chapter 4, it does not mean that the pair will not work with one another again, “If Keanu called me tomorrow with an idea, or if I woke up tomorrow like, ‘Hey, let’s do it…’ you know, I’d be happy to jump back into John Wick, too. Just has to be for the right reason.”
It is uncertain when the new series will release just yet. Stay tuned for more details.
