London-based restaurant group Bao has presented a new stationery collaboration with Japanese label Hightide. The collection has been designed by Bao co-founder Erchen Chang alongside BEAMS, utilizing signature Bao graphics on Hightide’s European and American-inspired stationery and office supplies.
Imagery in the collection includes the “Napping Man” — showing a man asleep on a giant bao bun — which appears on a shopping bag, utility sheet and Tenugui hand towel. Elsewhere, the collection covers notebooks, washi tape, brush writers, key rings, pin badges and stickers, which display everything from custard-filled Sad Face bao to imagery inspired by Bao’s newest outpost, a Taiwanese noodle shop.
Launching the collection, Bao’s Erchen Chang said:
“When I was designing the collection, I got a lot of inspiration from movies, everyday life, and various people I met. These items are all about the “rules to be a lonely man”. The collection is like claiming a badge to enter the lonely man society, where we all dream of lying on a large fluffy BAO and taking a nap.”
The full collection is available now through Bao’s Convni Store, as well as through Hightide in Japan and Beams in Taiwan.
