Beauty guru Shane Cooper reveals secret to red carpet worthy skin in lockdown

Shane Cooper is beauty guru to the stars and the brains behind the flawless complexions of some of our favourite famous faces, including the likes of Maya Jama, Rochelle Humes and Rita Ora.

Usually treating his celebrity clients at his London-based clinic, Shane Cooper UK, Shane is known for his non-invasive bespoke treatment and facials.

It’s fair to say he knows a thing or two when it comes to achieving the ultimate glow for your skin and catching up with Metro.co.uk, Shane exclusively revealed the best way to give your face that all important TLC – especially when lockdown may have been wreaking havoc for it.

For Shane, his key ingredients are a good exfoliator, an oxygenating mask and daily use of SPF.

‘There’s things that you can do at home, a nice exfoliator – it doesn’t have to be an expensive one – that can help remove those dead skin cells and give you a bit of a glow,’ he explained.

Shane also swears by an oxygenating mask and has created his own, that also includes Vitamin E, to help give his celebrity clients and anyone else their very own DIY facial experience for a little boost in that all important radiance.

It’s already got a number of celebrity fans, including Nick Grimshaw, Emma Willis, Laura Whitmore and Niall Horan. And, well, if it’s good enough for Niall… count us in.

‘When you use the mask you can feel that tingling and the oxygenation taking place. You can do facials at home, implement it into your usual skincare routine,’ Shane said.

Stressing the importance of SPF, Shane added: ‘Using an SPF every day. That I couldn’t recommend more. An SPF on the skin every day is what protects the skin. We all love the sun and the weather’s been great, but the sun can actually damage the skin, cause pigmentation, it can dehydrate it.’

He continued: ‘It’s not always about spending lots of money, it’s about utilising what is right for you skin. Everyone’s skin is different. I think it’s just about having a healthy routine for your skin.

‘If there’s not a problem, then don’t overuse [your products]. As long as you’re protecting your skin and keeping it hydrated. I love hyaluronic serums, I also love Vitamin C for the skin.’

Shane told us that his clients had been ‘desperate’ for his clinic to re-open, after clinics and beauty salons were shut down as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and lockdown restrictions.

The skincare expert, who prides himself on having a ‘good relationship’ with the stars he treats, teased: ‘People are desperate, I’ve had lots of messages from people like, “I can’t wait to see you, when can you open?”’

And proving that even celebrities can be prone to a dull skin day, Shane told us what’s been bothering the stars the most in lockdown when it comes to their complexions.

‘People are worrying about their skin feeling a bit dry, or pigmentation, hormonally [skin changing]. Some just say they are desperate for a facial because they feel like their skin really needs it,’ he said.

But, until they can be reunited celebs have been creating their own make-shift salon experiences at home, with Rochelle Humes who is pregnant with her third child, being treated to spa day by her daughters Alaia-Mai, seven, and Valentina, three.

Rochelle wrote: ‘Just finished a treatment at the best spa in town. Don’t get me wrong it wasn’t the most ‘relaxing’ but it was by far the best!! What a special little gang, I feel very loved.’

Sounds like Shane may just have some competition on his hands…
