Ex-WWE star Manu, 38, 'fighting for life' in hospital with complex cardiac issue

Former WWE superstar Manu has been hospitalised with a number of cardiac issues.

The 38-year-old star – whose real name is Afa Anao’i Jr – is part of the legendary Anao’i dynasty and Roman Reigns’ cousin, and a GoFundMe has been set up for his family to try and raise $100,000 for medical costs.

Mike Kleckner has set up the fundraiser and revealed the young wrestler is ‘currently fighting for his life’ after being rushed to hospital on September 23.

Afa Jr discovered he ‘has a severe and unexpected complex cardiac issue’, and he has gone through ‘many tests and major cardiac procedures’.

Kleckner wrote: ‘His heart injection fraction is only working at 35% and his heart is filling with fluid by the hours.

‘Afa has an extremely long road to recovery. He has major medical bills, and medications needed.’

He pointed to the wrestler’s ‘two amazing and bright children’, and asked people to donate whatever they could afford.

Kleckner added: ‘Afa has such a vibrant and loving personality, and has always been there for those in need. Afa always has been that guy to go above and beyond for everyone, and is loved by many.’

Already, people have raised $5,895 from 65 donations, with Ronny Riemer donating $1,000, and WWE Hall of Famer Michael Hayes (listed under his real name Michael Seitz) contributing $500.

Former WWE NXT star Killian Dain has also donated $250, with many people doing what they can to help Afa Jr.

After spending time in WWE’s Deep South Wrestling and Florida Championship Wrestling development territories, he was made his main roster debut in November 2007, before reappearing the following year as part of The Legacy with Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes.

He left the company in 2009, and has been working in the independent scene, with his most recent match coming as at an LVAC show earlier this month.
