Jamie Lee Curtis has paid tribute to her daughter Ruby in an emotional post on Trans Day of Visibility.
The Oscar-winning actress revealed that her younger child transitioned in July 2021, saying at the time that she and her husband Christopher Guest ‘have watched in wonder and pride as our son became our daughter Ruby’.
The Freaky Friday star revealed that Ruby – who was previously known as Thomas Guest – and her fiancé were planning on getting married.
Jamie, 64, has now celebrated Trans Day of Visibility with an adorable picture with Ruby, writing: ‘Love is love.
‘A mother’s love knows no judgment.
‘As a mother, I stand in total solidarity with my children as they move forward in the universe as their authentic selves with their own minds and bodies and ideas.
‘On this trans visibility day my daughter and I are visible.’
Jamie’s post was showered in praise, with many calling her an ‘amazing’ mother.
Someone else wrote: ‘Thank you! As the mother of a trans son, I feel the same. Thank you for using your platform to support these lovely, magical kiddos.’
This comes after the Knives Out star called her Oscars trophy ‘they/them’ in honour of Ruby, when she scooped best supporting actress for her tole in Everything Everywhere All At Once.
She wiped away tears as she told hosts Savannah Guthrie, 51, and Hoda Kotb, 58, after the footage of her moment of victory was played: ‘I hadn’t watched that. So, that was the first time I’ve seen it.’
Jamie – who has adopted daughters Ruby, 27, and Annie, 36, with her
75-year-old husband Christopher – then held up her Oscars
statue and declared it was non-binary.
The True Lies performer said: ‘Here they are! In support of my daughter Ruby, I’m having them be a they/them.
‘I’m just going to call them “them” – they/them. And they are doing great. They are settling in.’
She later had fans in hysterics when she revealed where her Oscar was kept… next to another eyebrow raising award.
