Liam Payne shows off new face tattoo as he steps out for dinner in London

Liam Payne has added to his extensive tattoo collection once again with a surprising inking.

The One Direction star, 29, is covered in tats, with a sleeve on his arm and designs on his chest and neck – and he now has one on his face.

Stepping out for dinner in London, the Strip That Down hitmaker debuted the new design.

Wearing a baggy jeans and tee ensemble, Liam went for a casual vibe.

On full display was the ink on his right cheek, very close to his eye – he must have a high pain threshold for this one!

While it’s only small, the tattoo looks to be either a small heart or even a bird – perhaps Liam will give us a closer look soon.

As well as his new tat, Liam’s image has undergone another change recently, as he’s now rocking a new hairstyle.

The Familiar singer has let his brunette locks grow and now sports a braid on one side, to which he’s added a bead.

Liam’s latest public outing comes after he opened up about his mental health struggles in a candid message to fans.

The boyband star revealed he has been diagnosed with ‘a couple of conditions’ which have led to so-called ‘manic’ moments and impacted his sobriety.

Speaking in an Instagram video, Liam began: ‘So, I mean, I’ve filmed a bunch of these over time and deleted them but I don’t know if this is the right time…’

He continued: ‘I mentioned I’ve been diagnosed with a couple of conditions. Not to go too much into detail, but one of them that I have, basically, there are a lot of manic things in my life which you guys saw.

‘But, the other side of it, that kind of feels like when I would lose my sobriety, in these moments that I was super low.

‘I kind of felt like that today.’

He went on to say he’s now able to ‘identify’ moments when he’s not feeling so great.

‘Luckily, I’ve got some amazing people around me that look after me but I’m sure they can see it in me too that I’m just not really here.’

The boyband star concluded: ‘I just wanted to put this out here anyway, because I know there are probably a few people who have the same thing, maybe you don’t even know it sometimes.

‘But, just so you know, you’re not the only one.’

His confession comes after Liam – who has been open about not recognising himself and struggling with his identity post-1D – checked into a US rehab centre.

He went without his phone for almost 100 days as he stepped back from the spotlight in a bid to get back on track with being sober.

The X Factor album told his YouTube followers that he had hit ‘rock bottom’ and realised he had to ‘do something’.

Admitting he was in ‘bad shape’, Liam praised ex Cheryl, 40, and their six-year-old son Bear for supporting him as he went to ‘get well’.

‘Honestly, more than anything I want to say thank you to Bear and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well. There is no point trying to be a dad when you have nothing to teach,’ he shared.

‘I feel like I have a grip on life now. After I got back out, that process had worked for me, but there were still some little bits left that I kind of had to deal with myself.’
