Another great reveal took place at this year’s Monterey Car Week, as Maserati pulled off the veil from its latest performance exploration, the MCXtrema — which it describes as a track-exclusive “beast” of “unparalleled exclusivity and performance.”
Rated at 730 horsepower, the vehicle blends the brand’s signature elegance with a new audacious design and is set to be offered to only select clientele with a total limited production count of 62 units.
During its presentation, the MCXtrema was described as Maserati’s most powerful track car yet. It caters to purists and brand loyalists who desire a race-ready machine, echoing the prowess of the iconic Maserati MC12. The vehicle stems from the collaboration between the Centro Stile and Maserati’s engineering team, aiming to reignite the brand’s competitive spirit and pave the way for future track beasts.
Maserati’s CEO, Davide Grasso shared that the “Maserati MCXtrema was created with the aim of offering an incredibly exclusive product that can set a new paradigm for our track cars. The project is dedicated to a selected clientèle who are particularly attentive to distinctive details, ranging from the most refined and innovative design to exceptional performance.”
Various performance aspects include a “Made-in-Modena 3.0-L V6” engine that was boosted to raise its power to 740CV by featuring new turbochargers, which provide 730Nm max torque, waiting to be unleashed through its 6-speed sequential racing gearbox. Other notable details include the vehicle’s lightweight full-composite bodywork, adjustable rear wing, closed carbon-fiber underfloor, a safety roof hatch, as well as a polycarbonate windshield and side windows.
Inside the cockpit, the MCXtrema features Maserati Centro Stile design elements, a fixed racing bucket seat, an adjustable pedal box and steering column, a six-point racing safety harness and a carbon-fiber multifunctional wheel with integrated displays.
Details like price and expected delivery dates have not yet been shared at the time of writing. While you wait for these updates, enjoy this concept trailer from Maserati below or visit its official site for more information.
