With Matt McCormick’s Los Angeles-based brand, One of These Days, the focus on calm, yet irrefutably western stylings remains paramount. Now the brand is taking its vision a step further with its new collection for the Fall/Winter 2023 season.
Titled “Crossroads of the Big Sky,” the collection takes a look at the American Southwest. Specifically, it is inspired by American artists who expanded their craft after moving to the region. With it, the 55-look collection comes together through a mixing of casual styles in seasonally appropriate warm shades. Across the wardrobe, you’ll find varsity jackets, workwear jackets, knitwear, hoodies, sweatshirts, tees, flannels, denim and relaxed pants.
“This collection is inspired by the pilgrimage of artists like Bruce Nauman, Susan Rothenberg, Agnes Martin, Dennis Hopper, and Georgia O’Keeffe to the Southwestern part of the United States. After making the exodus from dense urban areas to the Southwest’s wide open landscapes, each artist’s work took on entirely new meaning, as they were able to pull fresh ideas and inspiration from their new environment,” said McCormick. “Having spent much time in the American Southwest, it’s easy to understand why it’s had such a profound impact on so many of our country’s greatest artists,” adds McCormick. “And hopefully this collection captures some of that splendor.”
Highlights of the collection include varsity jackets fixed with Western-style details/patches, a reversible trench coat and a mohair cow sweater in brown and white. To further cement the new collection, One of These Days crafted a special video that takes the collection out on the road.
