Robert Irwin bitten by same type of snake that left dad Steve Irwin bloodied

Robert Irwin has shared a toe-curling video of himself getting bitten on the face by the same type of snake that once left his world-famous dad Steve Irwin bloodied.

The 19-year-old son of the late Australian icon took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a side-by-side clip of himself and his dad being attacked by a python, writing: ‘Déjà vu.’

Much like his dad – who died in September 2006 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb – Robert was also left with blood dripping down his face.

Alongside the footage, he wrote: ‘Déjà vu. Dad and me getting bitten by the same species of snake (carpet python) decades apart.

‘I found this python on the side of a road, but as you can see, sometimes snake rescues don’t quite go to plan.’

Robert’s trip down memory lane comes shortly after he opened up about his fascination with gravestones and memorials.

Despite his family suffering a major tragedy when he was just two years old, the zookeeper showed he was taking a light-hearted approach to death in a recent Instagram post.

Posing alongside a variety of mausoleums and gravestones, the famous offspring admitted he was looking for dead people with the same name as him.

He captioned his collection of snaps: ‘Roberts of the world… a thread [sic].’

In the gallery, Robert was pictured standing in front of a statue that bore his first name as well as an airport sign in memorandum of a different Robert.

Another clip showed him in the car driving towards a road that had the same name as him and he also photographed his feet standing on top of a stone that had his full name etched into it.

Towards the end of his collection, he uploaded a picture of a headstone that was dedicated to someone with his entire name as well as the dead individual’s spouse.

Each to their own!
