Seiko Revisits The Red Special With Seiko 5 Sports Brian May Limited Edition

Seiko has teamed up with legendary Queen guitarist Brian May once again for a second limited edition based on his homemade Red Special guitar.

Seiko dropped its original stainless steel Seiko 5 Sports Red Special back in 2020, with May himself requesting this second gold-toned edition to coincide with his Gold Series of reissued solo albums.

May has worn the same Seiko diver since buying it on tour in Japan in the 1970s.

Like the first watch, its dial takes its red and black design from the guitar’s body and pickguard but the new design features a grooved “vinyl” bezel insert and a nylon strap with six vertical stripes reflecting the guitar’s strings.

The watch is limited to 12,500 individually numbered pieces with May’s signature on a transparent red caseback and is offered in a flight case presentation box with a replica of the “lucky sixpence” coin May uses as a pick.

The new Seiko 5 Sports Brian May Limited Edition drops in March via Seiko, priced $595 USD.
