Strictly Come Dancing 'signs up Coronation Street star' after split from partner

A Coronation Street star is reportedly swapping the Weatherfield cobbles for Strictly Come Dancing’s ballroom floor.

Ellie Leach, 22, who played Faye Windass on the ITV soap between 2011 and 2023, is thought to be the latest star vying for the Glitterball Trophy later this year.

The A Boy Called Dad actress is thought to be looking to start a new chapter on the BBC juggernaut after quitting the long-running programme and splitting from boyfriend Reagan Pettman, who she dated for five years.

An insider said: ‘This could be just the tonic for Ellie, who’s had some huge life changes this year and could do with something fresh to focus on.

‘As well as splitting from Reagan she left Corrie, a show which she effectively grew up on as she joined the cast when she was just a child.

They continued to The Sun: ‘It’s going to take some adjusting to, but Strictly is part of opening up a new chapter for Ellie.’

The publican reports that bosses hope Ellie, who is the cousin of Coronation Street actress Brooke Vincent, 31, bring her soap star family to the live shows.

Ellie is among a number of stars who have been rumoured to be joining the Strictly 2023 line-up, including fellow soap actor EastEnders icon Nigel Harman and Angela Rippon, 78.

Love Island’s Zara McDermott has also been reported as an addition to this year’s edition of the show, which would make her the first-ever islander to be on Strictly.

Last year, Strictly was won by wildlife camera operator Hamza Yassin and his professional dance partner Jowita Przystal.

He had battled it out on the dancefloor with Fleur East and Vito Coppola, Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu, and Helen Skelton and Gorka Marque before securing his win in the finale.

Reps for the BBC and Ellie have been contacted by Metro.co.uk.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer later this year.
