Fans have been dressing up in all sorts of extravagant outfits for Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour but one ended up with an unfortunate burn across her chest.
Enthusiastic Lily Higgs emblazoned the lyrics to You Need To Calm Down, from Taylor’s Lover album, for the gig in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Lavender Haze singer has been embarking on her Eras Tour which is set to come to the UK next year, with British fans eagerly awaiting ticket releases.
Over in the US, Lily wrote her favourite lyrics on her chest for the over two-hour set but forgot to account for the sunshine in the open-air arena.
After enjoying the show, the Swiftie realised she had been left with the word ‘gay’ sunburned onto her skin.
She took to TikTok to joke about her unfortunate costume fail, admitting that she had ‘f***ed up’.
‘When you decide to write You Need to Calm Down lyrics on your chest for Eras Tour Cincinnati night two and weren’t thinking about the sun,’ Lily captioned her video.
Able to laugh at herself, Lilly added: ‘Oh I’ve f***ed up.’
She wore a bright rainbow dress with a matching fan, accessorising with the lyrics ‘shade never made anyone less gay’ in blue glittery eyeliner on her skin.
You Need To Calm Down is from Taylor’s seventh studio album, Lover, the first one she released after cutting ties with Big Machine Records.
The music video featured LGBTQ+ celebrities such as Billy Porter, Hayley Kiyoko, Adam Lambert, and RuPaul and is seen as Taylor vocalising her support for the community.
Some fans pointed out that Taylor actually sings ‘anybody’ rather than ‘anyone’ but Lily admitted her friend who wrote it was mistaken.
Mixing up the lyrics is hardly the biggest issue for Lily, as one comment warned: ‘I saw a video of this happening to someone at pride and the words were still on them a year later.’
Swifties were quick to joke about the unfortunate burn, one wrote: ‘I guess some shade would have been a little bit helpful.’
‘I have a heart around my eye where I bedazzled the lover look. Work is fun for me right now,’ confessed another gig-goer.
‘I just wasted ten minutes trying to find clothes that hide it so I can go to work,’ responded Lily.
‘I’m so sorry, I am actually wheezing over this,’ said one viewer.
Someone else wrote: ‘This is absolutely iconic though.’
