The Friends Cast Has Reportedly Reached an Agreement For an HBO Max Reunion Special

Buckle up, Friends fans! Your Central Perk crew could be reuniting on screen soon for an HBO Max special. According to Deadline, the six core stars — Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow, and Matthew Perry — have reached an agreement to do an hourlong unscripted reunion special with the NBC show’s creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

HBO Max’s Chief Creative Officer Kevin Reilly previously teased the special during the TV Critics Association press tour back in January saying, “There’s interest all the way around, and yet we can’t seem to quite get that interest all aligned to push the button on it, so today unfortunately it’s still a maybe.”

Though HBO Max hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, it seems like an announcement could be coming soon. Earlier this week, Perry sent Friends fans into a frenzy when he posted a cryptic tweet writing, “Big news coming . . .” That said, wouldn’t it be “kick you in the crotch, spit on your neck” fantastic? The former costars clearly have a lot of love for each other still — as evidenced by Aniston’s first Instagram and her fun reunions with Kudrow and Cox — so seeing them share the screen again would be a nostalgic gift. Aniston, for her part, has confirmed she would be involved in a potential reunion. In fact, she previously told Ellen DeGeneres that she and the cast are “working on something.” Hmm . . . I wonder what that could be?
