Nottingham-based label Universal Works has just presented its latest collection for Spring/Summer 2023 and it’s packed with free-flowing silhouettes, intricate patchwork, and contemporary accessories.
Throughout 2022, Univeral Works kept busy with regular collaborations — including a stand-out collection with HHV Berlin — and broad collections, such as its impressive “Hotel Deluxe” drop which was a solid example of the brand’s passion for experimentation for working with different fabrics.
Now, this latest collection from Universal Works takes inspiration from American landscapes and the British coastline. Packing the capsule with color, textures, and tonal shades, stand-out hues come in the form of “Sandstone Brown,” while other shades of yellow, pink, blue, and grey lean into the seasonal changes and the unpredictable weather that comes across the UK.
The garments also come designed with a slew of technical elements. For example, triangular pocket flaps have been introduced alongside leather-fringed trims. Additionally, denim is also included in a “Cloud” color scheme to represent Universal Works’ take on the classic “Space Cowboy” — a look where a protagonist is spotted wearing a cowboy hat with a pair of sneakers.
Furthermore, SS23 continues to outline UW’s close connection with Japanese footwear brand, Flower Mountain, as the duo unveils a new shoe that’s inspired by seasonal moods and the unpredictable elements that come alongside them.
