So, you may be wondering who Royal Blood are, now that the rock band are at the centre of a music world fury.
Why, you ask? Well, it turns out they themselves think they’re unknown after approximately ‘nine people’ clapped them on stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend.
The duo, made up of Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher, took to the stage in Dundee on Sunday for the festival which was headlined by The 1975 and Lewis Capaldi.
But the Figure It Out hitmakers were disappointed by the crowd’s reception explaining they made ‘rock music’ because ‘no one actually knows who we are.’
After claiming just a handful of the revellers ‘liked rock music’, Mike continued: ‘We’re happy to clap ourselves because that was so pathetic. Well done Ben.’
Fans have been roasting Royal Blood ever since, with one Twitter user remarking: ‘Royal Blood are just jealous and anxious having to follow Niall Horan and his beautiful new country twang.’
How Did We Get So Dark?, the band’s second album, debuted at the number one spot in the UK charts and they followed its release with huge tours in the US and Europe.
Their follow-up, Typhoons, also soared the number one, meaning all three of the band’s albums have hit the top spot.
Royal Blood’s fourth album will be released in September following more festival dates including a slot at this year’s Glastonbury.
