Lizzie Cundy has been doing some reflecting after Boris Johnson’s resignation – and she already misses him.
The former Prime Minister announced on Friday (June 9) that he would be stepping down as an MP with ‘immediate effect’.
Following his resignation as Uxbridge and South Ruislip MP, he issued a scathing statement lashing out at the Partygate investigation.
He accused the Commons investigation of attempting to ‘drive him out’ and claimed it was ‘the very definition of a kangaroo court’.
Appearing on GB News the following afternoon, Lizzie, 55, was keen to praise the former London mayor.
She also agrees with him, also hitting out at the ‘kangaroo court’ that she says pushed Johnson out of the Conservative Party.
The media personality went on: ‘I miss his maverick ways and his personality.
‘But most of all, what he did do, was the vaccine rollout, he was the first to support [Vladimir] Zelensky in the Ukraine war, and he did support Brexit.
‘He did do it. And the Tories didn’t really want it. Rishi [Sunak] doesn’t really want it and this is a real betrayal to the party.’
She concluded that the ‘in-house fighting’ is the ‘downfall’ of the Tory Party.
Meanwhile, presenter Nana Akua claimed Johnson’s resignation after serving as an MP for 15 years is a ‘stitch-up’.
She praised his ‘eloquent’ speech and said his own party was ‘ungrateful of his leadership’.
The broadcaster went on to predict a possible General Election amid a ‘domino effect’ of several Tory MPs resigning over recent days.
She concluded: ‘The Tory Party is like Brexit in name only, and unless they return to their Conservative values now, they’re dead in the water.’
Lizzie isn’t the first celeb to express their views on Johnson’s departure – but not everyone is on the same page.
Carol Vorderman – who is never one to mince her words when it comes to politics – ripped into the ‘disgusting’ politician in a scathing rant.
The former Countdown star, 62, tweeted: ‘BREAKING Johnson steps down as MP after Privileges Committee declared they were kicking him out anyway.
‘Obviously it also came with a whole pile of lying crap from this disgusting piece of gaslighting…..you can complete the rest…thoughts?’
She went on: ‘So first he makes Lords of blokes who organised parties for 200 people In Downing St during lockdown…
‘Then mocks….always mocks…oh and lies…and….’
