Putting a real tree up for Christmas can make the home feel cosy, however carrying it dangerously could lead to fines of up to £400.
Rob Prantl, owner of Wessex Vans, urged motorists to be mindful this festive season. He said: "Christmas is a wonderful time of the year, but it can also be very expensive and stressful.
"Bringing the tree home can add to those worries if you are unaware or ignorant of the potential issues it can cause. Educating yourself on the problems transporting a sizeable tree can help avoid any unnecessary additional expenses and penalty points this Christmas."
According to a study published by Fiat Professional, around 75% of UK motorists were unaware of the rules for carrying large loads in their car.
But carrying bulky goods in a car without the right safety measures could make the vehicle more difficult to control and limit visibility.

Highway Code rule could see drivers hit with £1k fine for making common gesture
Most motorists driving an overloaded or badly loaded car could face a £100 fine and three penalty points. They could also be charged with "careless and inconsiderate driving", which leads to an unlimited fine and nine points.
Wessex Vans advised drivers around Christmas to start by wrapping up the tree. This would protect it and also prevent the motorist from being distracted.
The company also warned Brits to be cautious about leaving the boot open while travelling. Larger trees can be carried on the roof of a suitable car but should be fastened securely with rope or bungee cords.
