A frugal parent has revealed the basic formula she’s used to feed her seven children on a ‘minimal paycheck,’ while eating healthy.
Influencer Rebekah Moyer, who lives in Hawaii with her family, dubs herself a ‘hippie sister’ and has been sharing her tips for holistic living.
In a recent TikTok, she enrolled the help of her mother to give top tips on how to eat a healthy diet without breaking the bank when money is tight.
Her mother, who raised Rebekah and her six siblings on a little budget, advised against meal planning and said which staples were best to keep at home and what ingredients to buy on sale.
Viewers were delighted with her tips, and thanked Rebekah and her mother for sharing the helpful information online.

The mother – whose name was not revealed in the video, explained which staples people should stock up on at home.
‘Carrots, onions, potatoes, celery if you can, cabbage and tinned tomatoes,’ she listed out.
‘So you start with those things – and of course it’s helpful to have your dry goods in your pantry so you can just use them, you know your basics like beans, lentils, rice, quinoa, oats,’ she added.
‘And those things all last really long as well,’ Rebekah added, saying they don’t rot quickly in the fridge.
And while some other people like to recommend meal planning as a way to cut cost, the mother took the opposite route.
‘You get your staples in your house and then you go to the store and see what’s on sale as far as your meats and your produce items and your fruit,’ she said.
‘You don’t meal plan and then have to get those certain things cause they might not be on sale this week,’ she explained.
The mother listed out items to keep on hand for cooking at home, including: ‘basic oils: olive oil, coconut oil and apple cider vinegar.’

And she also touted the importance of making things from scratch, warning: ‘make your own salad dressing, don’t buy salad dressing.’
‘I always have molasses because it’s really, really healthy and gives flavour to things, honey, plain yogurts, tuna in cans, check for these things on sale,’ she added.
Rebekah also added that her family always had apples, oranges and bananas at home while they were growing up.
The tips video now counts more than 835,000 views and viewers have praised Rebekah and her mother for sharing their frugal living tips.
