Women are no longer settling for second best when it comes to their dating life.
Many of them today are now ‘dating up’ and turning to websites like Seeking.com to do so.
Dating up is born from the ambition of bettering and elevating one’s lifestyle through shared experiences, and the desire to date mindfully.
Kent-based Olivia, 26, is a strategic dater who spoke exclusively to Daily Star about why she only dates successful men – and no, she isn’t a sugar baby.
“Once when using Seeking I was flown out to Los Angeles which by far takes the cake. Seeking allows you to meet people around the world, it can be really exciting,” she said.
Successful in her own right, Olivia is searching for the same in a partner and emphasises how much she has learnt from the men she has dated.
“Using Seeking really allows me to connect with people, knowing I am not compromising things that are important to me,” she explained.
“In all transparency, I was in a long-term traditional relationship for 10 years and that ended horrifically.
“I much prefer this way; I connect with people from all around the world knowing we have the same aspirations and goals.”
Once called Seeking Arrangement, the website now goes by Seeking in hopes to remove itself from its ‘sugar’ past and removing ‘arrangement’ from its name.
What started as an elite dating site for finding honest, authentic connections based on success-minded interests has become misrepresented over the years, with the phrase “sugar dating” taking on a negative, transactional connotation.
In an age where upgrading relationships is considered part of the norm, Seeking provides the platform for attractive and successful people to upgrade their lifestyles through honest relationships.
Now the website aims to create a community where singles are empowered to date up and find relationships on their terms, encouraging upfront and open communication for an elevated dating experience.
Olivia explained that the relationships she takes part in are mutually beneficial.
“I think it’s important to clarify that I am not a sugar baby,” she said.
“I work full time and I’m financially independent, I merely enjoy being around successful individuals to pick their brains, apply their methods, and learn how I can better my life – all while casually dating at the same time.
“I haven’t received any tangible assets, if there’s something I want I will purchase it myself. The only time I’ve been compensated is for my travel expenses. Seeking is more about meeting like-minded people and the experiences you can gain.”
Olivia says she doesn’t see joining Seeking any different from joining any other dating site that’s out there.
“It’s simply about trying out what is on offer and finding your preference. Seeking helps to connect me with the type of individuals I want to meet, and the future lifestyle aspirations I want for myself so is a really great fit for me,” she explained.
“As everything is hashed out in the beginning regarding what you’re both looking for I find that my experience of Seeking is mainly highs.
“There is a lot less disappointment when using sites like this, I am clear with my expectations and most times people have the same priorities as me.
“Consent and respect are always my priority, particularly when it comes to first impressions, the rest can be communicated.
She added: “It’s no different to meeting someone at the gym or at a bar, if you both like each other and boundaries are respected then time will show if you’re compatible to become more. I’ve never been pushed or felt forced to do anything I do not wish to engage in.”
